                       DMASTR INSTALLATION
                       ===================

	You have now presumably obtained some DMASTR distribution
files via FTP. These files have been compressed using PKZIP and
then have been converted to .EXE files by ZIP2EXE. This makes
the file an executable program, which will automatically
decompress itself when you type the name of the file.

	If you already have a functioning DMASTR system, we recommend
that you decompress in a special directory, since the decompression
will erase earlier copies of files with the same name, and if there
are problems with the new versions, you will be left without anything
to fall back on. So keep your existing system separate. The following
assumes that you are installing DMASTR for the first time.

1. Create the directory 'c:\bin\dm', and log onto this directory.

2. Copy the compressed files obtained via FTP into this directory.

3. Type the name of each file in response to the DOS prompt, e.g.,

	>dmutzip

The file 'dmutzip.exe' will then unpack itself automatically.

4. Include the text 'c:\bin\dm' in the PATH statement in your
'autoexec.bat' file. For example:

	PATH=c:\;c:\bin\dm

Otherwise, you will be unable to run DMASTR from any other directory.

5. Each file with the extension '.asc' is a section of the manual,
and you may wish to move this information to another directory. It
does not have to remain in the 'c:\bin\dm' directory. The files that
MUST remain in this directory are: (a) all DM*.EXE and DMTG*.EXE
programs that you intend to use, the file 'EGAVGA.BGI' and all files
with the  extension '.chr'.

6. We recommend that you choose which versions of DM and DMTG you are
going to use, and rename these files 'DM.EXE' and 'DMTG.EXE'
respectively. All other versions of the display programs can be kept
elsewhere. To work out what the various versions of the display
programs are, consult the file 'names.doc', and also the file
'readme.doc' The file 'tech.doc' explains how the PIO card should be
wired.

7. The original compressed file can now be deleted.
